Aleema Khan Arrest Warrants Suspended Amid Imran Khan Health Concerns

Rawalpindi, Pakistan – An anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi has suspended the non-bailable arrest warrants issued for Aleema Khan, sister of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, and her guarantors, according to The Tribune. The suspension comes as concerns grow over the health of the incarcerated former prime minister.

Protest and Arrest Warrants

The arrest warrants, the 13th issued against Aleema Khan, were initially issued on Wednesday after she failed to appear in court regarding a case stemming from a protest held on November 26, 2024. The case originates from a demonstration at D-Chowk in Islamabad on November 24, 2024, organized in response to Imran Khan’s call for nationwide protests demanding the restoration of PTI’s electoral mandate, the release of jailed party leaders, and a reversal of the 26th Constitutional Amendment.

Aleema Khan’s Concerns Over Imran Khan’s Health

Speaking to the media outside the court, Aleema Khan criticized the handling of the case and emphasized the urgent need for medical attention for her brother. “The PTI founder has an eye problem, and our only demand is that he be transferred to Al-Shifa Hospital for treatment,” she stated. She also indicated that Imran Khan’s release is contingent on Justice Sarfraz Dogar hearing pending cases. The News International reported that Aleema Khan also expressed dismay over the manner in which her brother was examined by medical professionals, stating, “He was examined without the presence of family or his personal physicians.”

Recent Medical Examination at Adiala Jail

A medical team conducted a detailed examination of Imran Khan at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi on February 15, 2026, as ordered by the Supreme Court following concerns about his eyesight. Dawn reported that Imran Khan had claimed his right eye had only 15% vision remaining. The PTI rejected the inspection, citing the absence of family and personal physicians during the examination.

Interior Minister’s Statement

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi attributed delays in Imran Khan’s eye examination to actions taken by Aleema Khan, stating her actions postponed the medical check-up. The News International reported on this statement.

Political Cases and PTI Protests

Aleema Khan has asserted that the cases against her brother, journalist Hamid Raza, and others are politically motivated, expressing confidence that they will eventually be overturned. Members of the PTI, including Aleema Khan, recently concluded a five-day sit-in outside Parliament House to demand urgent medical treatment for Imran Khan’s eye condition.
