Imran Khan Offered Political Deals, Refused Both, Claims Pakistan PM Aide
Lahore – A close aide to Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has stated that jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan was offered a “deal” on two separate occasions, but he declined both offers. The disclosures come amid ongoing debate regarding Khan’s imprisonment, and health.

According to Adviser to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah, “Two serious attempts were made to cut a deal with Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan in the past, but they failed.” The Telegraph India and Deccan Herald reported on these statements.
Sanaullah detailed that the first attempt at a deal occurred before November 26, 2024, and was spearheaded by Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and then-Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur. The second attempt involved individuals based abroad. Sanaullah indicated that Khan initially showed some willingness to engage but ultimately withdrew from both proposed arrangements. Government’s Stance and Contradictory Statements
While Sanaullah suggested the government is seeking a political resolution, he alleged that Khan is unwilling to compromise, aiming instead for the removal of the current administration to facilitate his return to power. However, Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar contradicted these claims, stating on X (formerly Twitter) that “There is neither any deal nor any leniency being offered to Imran Khan.” Tarar emphasized that any suggestion of leniency is false and that Khan is a convicted criminal. Khan’s Condition and Family Concerns
Meanwhile, Imran Khan’s family and political party have raised concerns about his health and are demanding he receive eye treatment at Shifa Hospital in Islamabad, with his personal physicians present. Khan’s lawyer, Salman Safdar, informed the Supreme Court that the former prime minister has experienced a loss of 85% of vision in his right eye while in custody. His sister, Noreen Khan, has alleged mistreatment and described the current rule as “illegitimate and un-Islamic.”
Imran Khan has been incarcerated since August 2023, facing multiple legal cases.
