India and the United States have agreed to an interim framework agreement for reciprocal and mutually beneficial trade, according to a joint statement released on Saturday.
According to the document, the United States would apply a reciprocal tariff rate of 18% on products originating from India, including textiles and clothing, leather and footwear, plastic and rubber, organic chemicals, home decor, handicrafts and certain machinery.
The joint statement said both sides will implement this framework and work towards finalizing the interim agreement promptly.
