Previous Encounter
Afghanistan’s first-ever Test match was against India in June 2018, after being granted Test status by the International Cricket Council in 2017. India, led by Ajinkya Rahane, won that match decisively within two days.
Tour Significance
This tour marks a significant event in the cricketing calendars of both nations, providing Afghanistan with valuable opportunities to compete against a top-tier team like India. The Test match is not part of the ongoing World Test Championship 2025-27 cycle.
