indigo Flight Cancellations Leave Passengers Stranded

Travel plans were thrown into disarray this weekend as IndiGo cancelled numerous domestic flights, particularly from Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. Passengers faced significant disruptions, scrambling for alternative arrangements and dealing with soaring airfares.

The situation was particularly acute for those hoping to travel on Friday and Saturday. Flyers reported being stranded in airports, while others attempting to book last-minute flights encountered exorbitant prices. Air India flights out of Delhi and SpiceJet routes saw one-way fares exceeding Rs 1 lakh on some routes, and even those were quickly selling out despite airlines adding extra capacity.

The disruption wasn’t limited to Delhi. Bengaluru experienced over 100 IndiGo cancellations,and Hyderabad saw nearly 90.This widespread impact created a ripple effect across the country.

Passengers shared harrowing experiences. Nidhi yadav,a resident of Prayagraj,learned of her flight cancellation while en route to Lucknow airport. Her daughter’s school break started Saturday, but reaching her in Dehradun became a 14-hour road trip due to the cancelled Lucknow-Delhi-Dehradun flight. “I can’t imagine what the scene inside the airport is like,” she said, urging government intervention.

Aditya Chheda,a recent graduate,endured an 18-hour ordeal at Chennai airport. His flight to Mumbai was repeatedly delayed, finally departing at 11 am on December 5 after being originally scheduled for 10:30 pm on december 4. He described chaotic scenes with passengers forced to sleep on the floor.
