Indonesia Gears Up for 2026 AFF Futsal Cup Amidst AFC Success
Jakarta, Indonesia – The Indonesian national futsal team is preparing for the 2026 AFF Futsal Cup, following a strong performance at the 2026 AFC Futsal Cup where they finished as runners-up to Iran. A training camp has been established with 19 players vying for a spot in the final squad for the Southeast Asian championship, which will take place from April 5th to 11th.
AFF Futsal Cup 2026: Group Stage and Competition
The 2026 AFF Futsal Cup will feature two groups. Thailand will host Group A, which includes Vietnam, Myanmar, and Timor Leste. Indonesia is placed in Group B alongside Australia, Malaysia, Cambodia, and Brunei Darussalam. Group B is anticipated to be highly competitive, particularly with the presence of Indonesia, Australia, and Malaysia.
Recent Successes Fuel Indonesian Confidence
Indonesia enters the AFF Futsal Cup with significant momentum, having secured the championship at the 2025 SEA Games with a dominant 6-1 victory over Thailand. Their recent run to the final of the AFC Futsal Cup 2026, though ending in a penalty shootout loss to Iran, further solidifies their position as a team to watch. This marks Indonesia’s second time hosting the AFC Futsal Cup, previously hosting in 2002.

The top two teams from each group will advance to the semifinals of the 2026 AFF Futsal Cup.
AFC Futsal Cup 2026 Results
The 2026 AFC Futsal Cup was won by Iran, claiming their 14th title. Indonesia finished as the runner-up, Japan secured third place, and Iraq finished fourth. Saeid Ahmadabbasi was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player, while Ahmad Habibie was recognized as the best goalkeeper. Muhammad Osamanmusa, Kazuya Shimizu, and Hossein Tayebi each scored 6 goals, earning them the title of top goalscorers. Iraq received the fair play award.
The tournament took place between January 27th and February 7th, 2026, with matches held at the Jakarta Indonesia Arena and Jakarta International Velodrome, which have capacities of 16,500 and 7,166 respectively.
