Indonesia’s Ministry of Population and Family Development has launched the “Ready to Make Impact” (Siap) program, a strategic initiative designed to equip university graduates with life skills that extend well beyond the traditional job hunt. Minister Wihaji announced the program, arguing that human resource development must encompass health, education, family building, and community participation rather than focusing exclusively on entry into the labor market.
Preparing Gen Z for the Realities of Adulthood
The Siap program is designed to help final-year students manage the various stages of adulthood. According to the minister, the initiative targets five core pillars: maintaining health, continuing education, securing employment, building a family, and participating in community life.
The launch arrives alongside data from the 2025 Intercensal Population Survey (SUPAS) released by Statistics Indonesia (BPS). The figures are stark: individuals aged 15–64 account for approximately 196 million people, or 68 percent of Indonesia’s 284 million total population. Given these demographics, Wihaji noted that preparing youth for life’s various phases has become a primary national necessity.

Balancing Technological Speed with Human Integrity
“Technology has no heart,” Wihaji said. “Technological transformation does not erase human values, integrity, and social functions. Industry players need human resources with integrity, honesty, and a strong work ethic.”
Bridging the Gap Between Aspirations and Industry
The Siap program functions as a collaborative platform, uniting final-year students, universities, government agencies, and industry players. The ministry reports that the program has already engaged 893 final-semester students.
To ensure sustainable working relationships, the ministry is working to close the distance between young people’s aspirations and the requirements of the private sector. Wihaji stressed that the program must move beyond forums to provide concrete follow-up and certainty for participants. He emphasized that active industry involvement is essential to ensure the initiative delivers tangible results rather than remaining a theoretical exercise.
