The Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps (Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps) has introduced self-service driving license printing kiosks known as Kios SIM, allowing citizens to print their own cards in a process likened to withdrawing money from an ATM. The facility serves as one of four digital innovations launched to mark the 71st Bhayangkara Traffic Day, providing an alternative for applicants to print their documents independently.
The self-service option applies specifically to applicants extending their SIM A and SIM C driving licenses through the Digital Korlantas application. According to Kakorlantas Polri Irjen Pol. Wibowo, the breakthrough aims to cut down service times and reduce lines at Satpas locations.
How to Print Your Driving License at the Kiosk
The printing process requires applicants to register beforehand through the digital platform. Once registered, users receive a QR code to use at the Kios SIM machine. After tapping the QR code, applicants verify their data on the machine. If the information matches, users simply press a print button, and the driving license is produced automatically.
Head of the Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps, Inspector General Wibowo, described the procedure, stating: So, people simply come to the kiosk. After registering, they’ll be given a QR code. Simply tap it, and the data will be verified. If it matches, they simply press the print button, and it’ll print automatically.
Rollout Plans and Future Locations in Jabodetabek
At present, the Kios SIM machines are not yet available in many locations. However, Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps expects the kiosks to be distributed across various areas gradually. Plans include outfitting the entire Jabodetabek regional jurisdiction with the machines, alongside placing the SIM Kiosk units inside several public service malls.
