GW Women’s Track & Field competes at VMI Invitational

The george Washington University women’s indoor track & field team showcased strong performances at the VMI invitational in Lexington, Virginia, on Friday, January 24, 2026. The team competed in the 60m dash, 60m hurdles, 400m, and triple jump.

In the 60m dash, Janae Russell led the GW contingent with a time of 8.10 seconds. She was followed by Kamryn Holness (8.20 seconds),Megan Heidebrecht (8.32 seconds), and Praise Akinyele (8.55 seconds). Holness and Akinyele also participated in the 60m hurdles, finishing in 9.45 and 9.77 seconds, respectively.

The 400m saw five GW runners take to the track, with Amaka Agwu achieving a top-10 finish, placing seventh in 59.08 seconds. Olivia Clark clocked in at 1:00.27 for 13th place, while Marcella mancini (1:00.48),Lainey Goldstein (1:00.85), and Cassedy Stypul (1:02.42) also competed for the Buff and Blue.

Megan Heidebrecht delivered a standout performance in the triple jump,securing a first-place finish with a personal-best distance of 12.13 meters.

the GW women’s track & field team will next compete at the annual Patriot Games, hosted by George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, on Saturday, January 31, 2026. The full schedule for the Buff and Blue is expected to be released soon.
