George Maguire Leads Cast in Secret Cinema’s Pirates of the Caribbean
Secret Cinema and TodayTix have announced the initial principal casting for the world premiere production of Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: The Immersive Adventure, which has extended its booking window by six weeks due to popular demand, matineemouse.substack.com reported. Olivier Award winner George Maguire will lead the company as Captain Jack Sparrow at the company’s new purpose-built flagship venue on the Greenwich Peninsula.
The upcoming production places live theatrical storytelling at the center of the experience. Instead of a full film screening, the two-hour show weaves curated clips from the film Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl directly into live performance, spectacular stunts, music, and design set pieces.
Greenwich Peninsula Venue Hosts Extended Run
Performances at the purpose-built Greenwich Peninsula venue are scheduled to begin on February 10, 2027, with an official opening night following on March 10, 2027, according to matineemouse.substack.com. London Theatre reported that the production begins previews on 16 February. Following strong ticket demand, the production has extended its run by six weeks and is currently booking through June 6, 2027.
The production marks a milestone for Secret Cinema by establishing a permanent home for the company’s future productions. Artistic Director and Producer Merritt Baer stated that the team designed the experience so that the story unfolds entirely around the audience from the moment of arrival, utilizing spectacular design and stunts rather than a traditional film screening format.

Principal Cast and Creative Team Join George Maguire
As noted by matineemouse.substack.com, the starting principal ensemble accompanying George Maguire features Phil Daniels taking on Captain Barbossa, Lily Blunsom portraying Elizabeth Swann, Harrison Wilde as Will Turner, and Gleanne Purcell-Brown stepping in for Anamaria. Further casting announcements are expected ahead of the opening.
Olivier Award winner Matt Costain directs the production, leading an internationally acclaimed creative team that includes two-time Emmy Award winner Jason Sherwood as production designer, theatrical adaptor Kait Kerrigan, and Olivier Award-winning musical supervisor, arranger, and orchestrator Alan Williams. According to broadwayworld.com, the production’s artistic staff also includes fight director Alex Payne, wigs, hair, and make-up designer Helen Keane for Campbell Young Associates, costume designer Susan Kulkarni, and casting director Stuart Burt CDG.
Angelo Desimini, Senior Vice President of Licensed Partnerships and Brand Management at Disney Theatrical Group, noted that the production offers audiences an entirely new way to experience the world of Tortuga through exceptional theatrical talent and immersive storytelling.
