Milan,Italy – Mediaset,the media company founded by the late Silvio Berlusconi,has announced its intention to pursue a civil lawsuit against fabrizio Corona,seeking €160 million in damages. This legal action follows recent statements made by Corona through his “Falsissimo” project, which Mediaset alleges contain false and defamatory details.
The company released a statement condemning Corona’s actions, characterizing them as “unprecedented verbal violence” and a “set of lies, falsehoods and insinuations” lacking any factual basis. Mediaset asserts that Corona is profiting from a purposeful “hate campaign” through his online platform,generating thousands of euros weekly.
“This is not gossip, nor is it simply rumor,” the statement reads. “It is an organized and systematic mechanism in which lying becomes an instrument of profit.”
Mediaset further announced that any financial compensation obtained through the lawsuit will be donated to charitable organizations. This move underscores the company’s commitment to rectifying what it perceives as a damaging and unfounded attack on its reputation and the individuals associated with it.
The legal proceedings come after Ivano chiesa, Corona’s former lawyer, previously indicated his intention to sue Mediaset. This latest development marks a significant escalation in the ongoing dispute between Corona and the Berlusconi family’s media empire.
