Caracas, Venezuela – venezuelan opposition leader Juan Pablo Guanipa was reportedly kidnapped on Sunday night, just hours after being released from eight months of arbitrary detention. The alarming news was revealed by his son, Ramón Guanipa, through a video posted on social media.

Ramón Guanipa stated,”I want to alert the entire world that my father has been kidnapped again.” He detailed that his father was ambushed by approximately ten unidentified armed men while attending an event at 11:45 PM. According to Ramón, the individuals involved were not wearing any identifying insignia.

“My father Juan Pablo Guanipa was at an activity… when he was ambushed by approximately 10 officials who did not have any type of identification, they targeted us, were heavily armed, and took my father away,” Ramón Guanipa explained. He urgently demanded proof of life and directly attributed any harm that may come to his father to the current Venezuelan regime.

The kidnapping raises serious concerns about the safety of political opponents in Venezuela and follows a pattern of alleged repression by the government. Juan Pablo Guanipa’s initial detention, lasting eight months, was widely condemned by international observers as politically motivated. This latest incident is likely to further escalate tensions within the country and draw international scrutiny.

As of this report, the Venezuelan government has not issued a statement regarding the alleged kidnapping. Further updates will be provided as they become available.
