Interstate Plastics Supports Westmoore High School Robotics Team’s Success

Interstate Plastics, an Interstate Advanced Materials company, recently donated Delrin® acetal sheet to the Westmoore High School robotics program in Oklahoma, contributing to the team’s impressive performance in the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC). The donation helped students design and build competition-ready robots, leading to multiple awards and recognition at both the state and regional levels.

Westmoore Robotics Achieves Standout Season

Four rookie teams from Westmoore High School demonstrated exceptional engineering skill and determination throughout the season. At the state-qualifying FTC tournament in Kingfisher, all four teams advanced to the finals—an uncommon achievement for first-year competitors. Their performance resulted in a Tournament Championship and several judged awards for innovation, design, and engineering excellence.

Two of the Westmoore teams continued their success at the Oklahoma State Championship in Tulsa, securing a 1st Place Design Award and an Innovate Award while competing against some of the region’s strongest programs.

The Role of Delrin® in Robotics Performance

Robotics competitions demand durability, as robots endure impacts, defensive play, and mechanical stress. Delrin® acetal sheet was chosen for its strength, machinability, and wear resistance, helping critical robot components withstand the rigors of competition. According to Interstate Plastics, the material’s properties helped ensure the robots’ reliability during demanding events.

Interstate Plastics Commitment to STEM Education

Interstate Plastics’ support of Westmoore High School’s robotics program reflects the company’s commitment to fostering the next generation of STEM leaders. By providing access to advanced materials like Delrin®, students gain practical experience in engineering design, manufacturing, and material selection—skills that extend beyond the classroom and prepare them for real-world problem-solving.
