The United States and Israel are escalating military operations against Iran, with the Pentagon asserting imminent control over Iranian airspace. US Claims Imminent Airspace Control

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth stated on Wednesday that within a week, the US and Israel “will have complete control over Iranian skies.” Hegseth proclaimed Iran was “toast,” and vowed to inflict “death and destruction” upon the country. He acknowledged the possibility of US casualties and damage to American assets from Iranian retaliation, but emphasized the US commitment to continue fighting “as long as we require to.”

Military Operations and Objectives

According to Hegseth, the US and Israel “have only just begun” targeting Iranian capabilities, with a focus on degrading its missile and defense-industrial base, as well as its military leadership. The stated goal is to establish “uncontested airspace” allowing for continuous surveillance and strikes “every minute of every day until we decide that it’s over.”

Despite the assertive rhetoric, Hegseth admitted the US “can’t stop everything” fired by Tehran. Four US service members have already died, with several more wounded. However, both Hegseth and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Dan Caine have affirmed that the US military possesses sufficient munitions for ongoing operations.
