Iran Launches Fresh Missile Wave at Israel Amidst Trump’s Peace Talk Claims

An Iranian missile attack lightly injured six people and damaged property in Tel Aviv on Tuesday morning, following Israeli airstrikes targeting sites within Iran overnight. The attack on Tel Aviv was part of a broader barrage of missiles fired from Iran at Israel overnight Monday and into Tuesday morning, prompting millions to seek shelter.

Details of the Attack

Six people were injured in Tel Aviv when a missile struck the city. The warhead, containing 100 kilograms of explosives, created a crater and damaged nearby buildings and vehicles, according to police reports. Col. Miki David, a Home Front Command official, stated that three buildings sustained significant damage, but injuries were not severe. Most residents had taken cover in bomb shelters.

Iranian missiles likewise targeted northern and southern Israel, with one person lightly wounded in a Haifa suburb after stepping on missile debris. Footage showed an Iranian missile being intercepted over Haifa, but a home in the area was damaged. Missiles were also detected heading toward Jerusalem, prompting Knesset members to seek shelter.

Trump’s Announcement and Ongoing Conflict

The attacks occurred shortly after President Donald Trump announced that the U.S. And Iran were engaged in “constructive conversations” to end the conflict. He also stated he would postpone a planned strike on Iran’s power and energy infrastructure for five days. However, Iranian officials have not confirmed these talks. Despite the postponement, U.S. Military forces continue to “aggressively” strike Iranian targets.

Regional Impact and UN Resolution

The conflict is extending beyond Israel and Iran. Israeli airstrikes targeted multiple neighborhoods in Beirut’s southern suburbs, reportedly targeting Hezbollah infrastructure. Iran also continued attacks on the Gulf, hitting power lines in Kuwait and prompting missile alerts in Bahrain. Saudi Arabia’s Defense Ministry reported destroying 19 Iranian drones targeting its oil-rich Eastern Province.

The UN Security Council is currently negotiating a draft resolution, introduced by Bahrain, to authorize states to leverage “all necessary means” to ensure freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. The draft resolution demands Iran cease attacks on merchant vessels and attempts to impede navigation in the Strait, which has seen a significant reduction in traffic since Iran effectively blocked it. Hundreds of vessels are currently anchored in and around the Gulf, disrupting trade and leaving approximately 20,000 seafarers stranded.

Recent Military Actions

In recent days, Iran’s missile strikes on Israel have decreased from 90 missiles per day to roughly 10. The IDF claims to have destroyed or disabled approximately 330 of Iran’s estimated 470 ballistic missile launchers, with the remaining 150 launchers still being targeted.

The IDF has also conducted strikes within Iran, targeting the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ (IRGC) Quds Force headquarters, air defense headquarters, ground forces headquarters, and facilities involved in weapons production. These strikes were reportedly carried out with measures taken to mitigate civilian harm.

Tanker Traffic Through the Strait of Hormuz

Despite the ongoing tensions, two India-flagged tankers carrying liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) successfully sailed through the Strait of Hormuz on Monday and are expected to reach Indian ports between March 26-28.
