Herzog Addresses Sydney Supporters Amid Protests
Sydney, Australia – Thousands of supporters gathered in a central Sydney venue on February 9, 2026, to hear Israeli President Isaac Herzog speak, while a separate protest against his visit took place nearby at Town Hall.
The event, hosted by the Zionist Federation of Australia, drew a large crowd, with many attendees wearing yarmulkes and displaying Israeli flags. Premier Chris Minns was among those present, arriving at the 9,000-seat venue around 7:00 PM.
Security was notably tight, with attendees undergoing thorough checks including identity verification and bag searches conducted by sniffer dogs. A notable police presence was visible, including marksmen positioned on rooftops and officers in armored vehicles stationed throughout the surrounding streets.
President Herzog was accompanied by Frist Lady Michal Herzog. Organizers stated the event aimed to foster “reflection, unity and shared purpose,” while also honoring victims and reaffirming values of resilience and democratic principles.
The stage was adorned with a large blue Star of David, alongside the flags of both Australia and Israel, symbolizing the connection between the two nations.
