Resonancias IUBA 2026: A Vibrant Cultural Season at the University of Colima

The University of Colima’s Institute of Fine Arts (IUBA) is set to enrich the cultural landscape of the state with its 2026 Resonancias IUBA concert series. This initiative, driven by the Department of Music faculty, aims to bring classical music to the community while showcasing the talents of IUBA students, faculty and alumni.

Lyrical Night: De cantera y mar

The program continued on Wednesday, March 4th, 2026, with the concert De cantera y mar: Noche Lírica (From Quarry and Sea: Lyrical Night), performed by students from the chair of Dr. Alejandrina Vázquez Ramírez. The event took place at 7:00 PM in the Stained Glass Room of the Pinacoteca Universitaria [Colima Noticias].

Performers included sopranos Judith Zamilpa, Jessica López, Andrea Arredondo, and Cory Arteaga; mezzo-soprano Mariana Pedrizco; baritones and tenors Gerardo López and Karim Gutiérrez; soprano Náraly Santillán, and pianist Heriberto Cruz [Colima Noticias].

Upcoming Performances

The Resonancias IUBA season features a diverse program of concerts scheduled throughout the spring and summer. Key upcoming events include:

  • March 5th: Cuba and Mexico on Piano, featuring Luis Enrique Reyes Flores and Lianne Vega, with special guest Jesús Rodríguez.
  • March 19th: Between Strings, Tangos and Coffees with Simone Iannarelli, Winfried Kellner and Ramón Andrade on guitar.
  • April 22nd: Cuban Chamber Music, with Julieta Castañeda on flute, Krista Sofía on cello, Jaime Macías on violin and Lianne Vega on piano.
  • April 29th: An educational concert for children, led by Scarlet Zamacona, Lianne Vega and students from the IUBA children’s workshops.
  • May 6th: Lyrical Gala: Music and Voice, featuring tenor Enrique Mejía, sopranos Alejandrina Vázquez, Anita Garibay and Genie Ceceña, and pianist Marta Wilimowska.
  • June 11th: Sound Repercussions, starring Felipe Avalos Cervantes and guest artists.

Supporting the Arts at IUBA

Tickets for the Resonancias IUBA concerts are available with a recovery fee of 100 pesos for University of Colima students, 150 pesos for members of the UdeC Culture Network, and 200 pesos for the general public.

Gregorio Rodríguez Fletes, coordinator of the IUBA Music Department, emphasized the program’s importance in fostering a vibrant cultural scene and providing opportunities for local artists [Colima Noticias].
