Rumen Radev is our opponent in these elections. Ivaylo Mirchev, co-chairman of “Yes, Bulgaria”, part of the PP-DB coalition, stated this to the BNR.
“It is clear what differences we have. We have always looked to Europe. A strong Bulgaria in a strong Europe. We have always wanted a competitive economy, judicial reform. We have not changed in this regard. Just as we have not changed anything in relation to the Eurozone. From this point of view, I do not know with Rumen Radev and his future political formation if there will be any points of intersection. We will fight for the trust of the hundreds of thousands of people who came to the squares”.
“Botash” was a mistake, Mirchev also commented.
“If anyone thinks that we will not pay, they are wrong. These sums are already in the amount of hundreds of millions. There was no argument for a caretaker government with a mandate of two months to conclude a 13-year contract with “Botash”.
The election of Krum Zarkov as chairman of the BSP presents him with quite serious challenges, he noted in the “Sunday 150” show.
“It remains to be seen whether the parliamentary group will continue to dance to Peevski’s music, even after the removal of the cabinet. What we have seen in recent days is that it is divided. People who continue to gravitate around Peevski and those who have felt the new gust of wind”.
Mirchev expects serious changes in the Centenary after the election of its new leader both in the parliamentary group and in the one in the Metropolitan Municipal Council.
“We will monitor the behavior of the BSP for Borislav Sarafov, for the Election Code, for Peevski’s security. We can remove the security of Boyko Borisov and Peevski next week, and this will be a strong sign that the BSP has returned to its foundation from Peevski’s crutch.”
If President Yotova vetoes the changes to the Electoral Code, after it is returned to the National Assembly for revision, the key will be in the BSP, the co-chairman of “Yes, Bulgaria” also noted.
“Actions are important, we will evaluate them. It also applies to Rumen Radev, because often in politics there is a discrepancy between requests and actions, and we are guided by actions”.
He again said that his coalition expects to receive broad enough public support to have 121 votes in parliament and not have to make compromises.
Mirchev pointed out GERB, led by Boyko Borisov, as an inadmissible partner after the elections.
He noted that at the consultations with President Yotova, his formation outlined the important tasks for the future acting prime minister.
“The first is for a strong interior minister in order to guarantee the fairness of the elections to the maximum extent, which means changing the heads of the regional directorates of the Ministry of Internal Affairs; changing the acting head of DANS, changing the chief secretary of the Ministry of the Interior. A strong minister of justice to propose a new head of office for the chief prosecutor”.
Mirchev also pointed to problems in other sectors, such as health care, financing of municipalities and work in forestry, which should also be addressed by the caretaker government.
He commented on the signing by Bulgaria of the charter of the Peace Council, which was created on the initiative of Donald Trump.
“Everything about our position is very confusing – we are in a precarious position. Such an international organization has never been created before. It is something like a private NGO. The only country from the Eurozone that signed the charter is Bulgaria. We put ourselves in a humiliating position.”
