Indonesia Prepares for Eid al-Fitr Travel Surge with Toll Road Inspections and Maintenance

Karawang, West Java – Indonesian authorities are actively preparing for the anticipated surge in travelers during Eid al-Fitr, with a focus on ensuring the safety and efficiency of the nation’s toll road network. Deputy Minister of Public Works Diana Kusumastuti recently inspected the KM 57 rest area on the Jakarta-Cikampek (Japek) Toll Road as part of these preparations.

Road Repairs Completed Ahead of Schedule

The inspection confirmed that major road repairs on the Japek Toll Road were completed ten days prior to Eid, aiming to facilitate smooth and safe travel for mudik (homecoming) travelers. While large-scale repairs are finished, ongoing light maintenance, including filling potholes, will continue to be carried out regularly to address any remaining road imperfections.

Coordination and Operational Readiness

The inspection involved representatives from key agencies and toll road operators, including the Head of the Jakarta–West Java National Road Implementation Office, Rina Kumala Sari, the Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT), PT Jasa Marga Director of Operations Yaya Ruhiya, and PT Jasamarga TransJava Toll (JTT) Operations Director Pratomo Bimawan Putra.

JTT’s Proactive Maintenance Program

PT Jasamarga TransJava Toll (JTT) is actively maintaining toll roads through routine maintenance programs to ensure optimal pavement quality. According to Putra, JTT has deployed 35 patching teams across the Trans-Java Toll sections it manages. These teams are designed to respond quickly to potential pavement damage, maintaining road safety and quality.
