Participating sellers include hotels, tour operators, transport providers, and attractions. Budi Tirtawisata, chairman of the steering committee, described the venue’s strategic role by stating that Jakarta functions as a meeting point rather than merely a point of arrival.
The event arrives amid persistent global tourism challenges, including changing travel patterns, rising energy prices, and geopolitical tensions. Haryadi Sukamdani, chairman of the Indonesian Tourism Industry Association, noted that maintaining active engagement with international markets remains crucial despite these headwinds. He stated that the industry cannot simply wait for global conditions to improve, emphasizing the ongoing necessity to promote products, maintain sales efforts, and cultivate solid relationships with buyers through airline partnerships, embassies, and industry networks.
Programme Schedule and Post-Event Familiarisation Trips
Alongside standard business-to-business networking sessions, the three-day programme features a Top Leaders Forum, panel discussions, and talk shows. Following the conclusion of the Jakarta event on October 17, the Ministry of Tourism will launch post-event familiarisation trips starting October 18. These excursions will take international buyers to destinations including North Sulawesi, East Java, West Java, and Belitung.
Ni Made Ayu Marthini, deputy for marketing at the Ministry of Tourism, explained that the initiative aims to direct international attention toward destinations beyond Bali. Citing Belitung as an example, she pointed out that connectivity from Singapore to Tanjung Kelayang is opening up and has generated a noticeable rise in visitor numbers.
