Detroit Pistons center Jalen Duren will participate in the 2026 NBA all-Star Game, but will no longer compete in the slam Dunk Contest, the NBA confirmed on Saturday, February 7th. Initial reports from ESPN indicated Duren had accepted an invitation to the dunk contest, though, his recent selection as an All-star has shifted his focus.
Duren earned his first All-Star nod on Sunday, joining Pistons teammate Cade Cunningham, who will start in the game. Detroit Pistons coach J.B. Bickerstaff will also participate as a coach in the All-star Game, scheduled for February 15th.
The NBA revealed the full list of participants for the Slam Dunk Contest earlier on Saturday, and Duren’s name was notably absent. While Duren’s athleticism and potential for highlight-reel dunks made him a popular choice for the contest, he will now concentrate on representing the Pistons in the All-Star Game.
Fans can watch Duren, Cunningham, and Bickerstaff in action during the NBA All-Star Game on February 15th. The event will showcase the league’s brightest stars and provide an exciting spectacle for basketball enthusiasts.
