Jamestown Women’s Wrestling Falls to Dickinson State in Thrilling Dual
JAMESTOWN, N.D. – The University of Jamestown women’s wrestling team suffered a narrow 23-19 defeat to Dickinson State University on Saturday afternoon, despite a spirited comeback in the middle and upper weight classes. The dual took place at Harold Newman Arena.
Dickinson State gained an early advantage by receiving points via forfeit at the 110 and 117-pound weight classes. Jazmine Turner of DSU then secured a 10-0 technical fall over Kiera Hagman at 124 pounds, and Jumoke Adekoye followed with another 10-0 technical fall against Abby Ewing at 131 pounds.
The Jimmies began to rally with Nora Houglum earning a pin over Makenzie Shaw at 138 pounds in 3:25. Ann Meiman continued the momentum with a dominant 10-0 technical fall victory against Izzabella Davis at 145 pounds, completing the feat in just 1:29.
Leah Wiillard (160) added another pin for Jamestown, defeating Olivia Anderson in 1:42. Emily Novak (180) followed quickly with a pin of her own, taking down Bridgette Price in 1:57 and bringing the Jimmies back into contention.
Dickinson State clinched the victory when Savanna Rickter pinned Celia Jaeger at 207 pounds in 58 seconds.
