January 2026 saw strong sales for new releases on Steam, with StarRupture and Quarantine Zone: The Last Check dominating the top spots. Despite traditionally being a slower month for major hits, several smaller releases also performed well, indicating a healthy appetite for diverse gaming experiences.
Top-Selling New Steam Games in January 2026
Quarantine Zone: The Last Check led the charts with 665.7 thousand copies sold. StarRupture closely followed with 533.7 thousand units, and LORT secured third place with 253.9 thousand copies sold. GameDiscoverCo reports that StarRupture ultimately generated $12.3 million in revenue, surpassing Quarantine Zone: The Last Check’s $10.4 million, due to a higher price point.
Sales Performance of Other Notable Titles
Cairn sold 107.7 thousand copies in January, with developers announcing total sales exceeding 300 thousand by February. ARC Raiders continued its success, selling an additional 2.1 million copies in January, bringing its total sales to 15 million. Other strong performers included R.E.P.O. (867.4 thousand copies sold, reaching 18.4 million total), Peak (692.1 thousand new copies, totaling 15.5 million), and RV There Yet? (650 thousand additional copies, for a total of 5.5 million).
No Rest for the Wicked and Cooperative Play
No Rest for the Wicked also demonstrated strong performance, selling 663.3 thousand copies in January and reaching a total of 1.5 million copies sold following the release of its cooperative mode.
Revenue Leaders on Steam
Counter-Strike 2 dominated revenue rankings in January with $163.9 million. ARC Raiders followed with $76.2 million, and PUBG: Battlegrounds took third place with $56.3 million. Where Winds Meet entered the Steam top 10, generating $23.2 million in revenue.
Console Sales Performance
New releases on PlayStation 5, such as Cairn and Code Vein II, sold fewer than 50 thousand copies. Similarly, Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade sold under 50,000 copies on Xbox Series S|X. However, the game performed significantly better on Nintendo Switch 1 and 2, exceeding 100,000 copies sold in January.
