Oosterwolde Addresses Position Debate Following Fenerbahçe’s Europa League Qualification

Fenerbahçe defender Jayden Oosterwolde addressed recent media speculation regarding his preferred position following the team’s 1-1 draw against FCSB in the final match of the UEFA Europa League group stage. The result secured Fenerbahçe’s qualification for the play-off round, despite the team’s desire for a win.

Speaking after the match, Oosterwolde expressed satisfaction with advancing to the next stage of the competition but acknowledged the team’s performance fell short of expectations. He also emphasized the team’s immediate focus on their upcoming domestic fixture against Kocaelispor.

The Dutch international directly refuted claims circulating in the media that he is unwilling to play at left-back. “There is a perception in the media like ‘I don’t want to play left back’,” Oosterwolde stated. “I talk to my coach all the time, and even if I need to play at left back, I will.” He reiterated his commitment to the team and his willingness to fulfill any role assigned to him by the coach.

Oosterwolde also expressed his happiness with his current involvement in matches following his recovery from injury, highlighting his preference for the center-back position and his desire to develop his game there.”After returning from injury, I take part in every match, which makes me happy. I play in the centre-back position and I want to play hear and improve myself,” he explained.

ultimately, Oosterwolde affirmed his satisfaction with his performance and his dedication to playing wherever the team requires him, stating, “I am happy with my own performance and playing every match. I will play wherever my coach wants.”
