Jimmy Fallon greets me at the door. he looks like I usually picture him, save for the lack of his typical Tonight Show desk: He’s suited and smiling, wearing a cornflower blue tie, right hand mid-gesture. He is also, importantly, made of wax.
So begins my surreal journey through the Times Square location of Madame Tussauds on Wednesday, in pursuit of Jeff Goldblum and his waxen twin.
The actor has inspired plenty of memorable works of art, both sanctioned (a 25-foot statue lounging in London in 2018 in commemoration of the 25th anniversary of Jurassic Park) and not (approximately Etsy offer a treasure trove of Goldblum-inspired goods, proving that the demand for all things Goldblum is very, very real.
Jeff Goldblum Gets the Wax Treatment at Madame Tussauds
Jeff Goldblum’s recent stint filling in as host on Jimmy Kimmel Live! included a playful lament about the lack of a wax figure in his likeness at Madame Tussauds. He jokingly wondered if he had somehow offended the famed wax museum, even stating, “It’s not that I think I’m entitled to my own figure…but I don’t want to also think that I’m unwaxable.”
Those fears were allayed this week with the unveiling of his remarkably lifelike wax double. The figure,dressed in all black,will soon be shipped to Madame Tussauds Orlando,Florida,but was presented today on a plush butter-yellow carpet before a forest green velvet curtain adorned with twinkle lights.
The unveiling took place amidst a diverse collection of wax figures at the museum. Visitors can encounter a wax version of Chris Hemsworth as Thor,standing guard alongside Tom Hiddleston as Loki. The exhibit also features iconic New York figures like Lou Reed and Andy Warhol, alongside marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn as Holly Golightly. Selena Gomez, Drew barrymore (in a flowing rainbow gown, as seen on Instagram), and Whoopi Goldberg are also featured.
Further into the museum, a festive Christmas scene showcases Mariah Carey in a Mrs.Claus outfit, Leonardo DiCaprio in a tuxedo, and F. Scott Fitzgerald relaxing on a green leather couch. olympic figure skater Michelle Kwan also has a wax representation, positioned near goldblum’s figure.
