The program covers all teachers—including fixed-term and suspended educators—across national, public, and private kindergartens, elementary schools, middle schools, schools, special-education facilities, and miscellaneous schools throughout Jeju. Under the operational guidelines, eligible staff can request consultations for educational rights violations, false child abuse reports, school-related disputes, and civil or criminal matters tied directly to their professional duties.
How Jeju Teachers Access Legal Consultations and Funding
To access the service, teachers must submit requests through the Education Activity Protection Center. According to provincial education officials, applicants speak first with a dedicated educational supervisor who evaluates the urgency, nature of the case, and the teacher’s gender and workplace location before assigning a designated attorney.
The Jeju provincial education office covers 100 percent of the initial legal consultation costs. If a teacher chooses to proceed with formal legal representation following the initial advice, they can link the case to formal representation, with subsequent fees supported under the terms of the Teachers’ Protection Mutual-Aid Association regulations.
