“Draft Phoenix” Debuts at Teatro Coppola, Exploring Failure and Resilience
Catania, Italy – On Thursday, March 12, 2026, Teatro Coppola will host the premiere of “Draft Phoenix,” a fresh theatrical performance by Jennifer Lorenz. The show blends theater and circus elements to explore themes of failure, artistic precarity, and the potential for rebirth.
A Tragicomic Journey of Reinvention
“Draft Phoenix” is described as a tragicomic performance that delves into the challenges of the contemporary world and the transformative power of human connection. The show draws on Lorenz’s own experiences, presenting a partly autobiographical and multilingual narrative.
The performance centers around the question of what happens when one is told they are “not enough.” For Lorenz, exclusion from the world of dance became the catalyst for a journey from Berlin to Sicily, encountering a diverse cast of characters and paradoxical situations. The performance incorporates audience participation, allowing for a continuous cycle of death and rebirth, transforming setbacks into new beginnings.
