Louisville Licensed Psychological Practitioner Expands Perinatal Mental Health Care Network

Jennifer L. Sanders, a Licensed Psychological Practitioner based in Louisville, Kentucky, has built a specialized clinical career focused on adult mental health and perinatal care following over two decades of serving families in the region. Sanders completed her graduate training in clinical psychology at Spalding University in 2006, after earning both her undergraduate and graduate degrees from the institution.

Early in her career, Sanders worked with children and families in community-based and outpatient settings, including roles at Seven Counties Services, Edelson & Associates, and the University of Louisville’s Depression Center. Her focus shifted toward maternal mental health after she became a mother in 2012 and identified service gaps for expecting and new parents.

Specialized Training in Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders

To address these gaps, Sanders pursued advanced credentials in the assessment and treatment of Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMADs) through Postpartum Support International. She further expanded her clinical qualifications by completing postpartum doula training through DONA International alongside additional education in lactation support.

In 2017, Sanders established her private practice in Louisville. Through this practice, she formed professional relationships with local obstetric, pediatric, and allied perinatal care providers to promote integrated family care. Her clinical work encompasses psychotherapy and psychological assessments for women navigating pregnancy and postpartum challenges, including perinatal depression, anxiety, infertility-related stress, infant loss grief, and relationship adjustments.

Statewide Advocacy and Kentucky PSI Chapter Launch

Building on her clinical practice, Sanders extended her work to statewide advocacy in 2019 by helping launch the Kentucky Chapter of Postpartum Support International (PSI-KY). Alongside other perinatal leaders, she contributed to developing a statewide support network designed to assist families throughout Kentucky.

Outside of her clinical and advocacy work, Sanders is the mother of three adolescents and participates in community youth athletics. Her professional framework continues to emphasize early identification, prevention, and collaborative care models within the regional healthcare community.
