Buckley arrived at the Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall in London wearing a striking blue gown designed by Matthieu Blazy for Chanel. The dress was adapted from a look featured in the 2026 Métiers d’art collection. Crafted from vibrant velvet, the gown featured a sleeveless silhouette – a departure from the original’s long sleeves – and an adjusted waistline. Silver floral embellishments adorned each shoulder, completing the elegant look.

Acceptance Speech Highlights

In her acceptance speech, Buckley acknowledged the influence of those who came before her. “This really does belong to the women past, present and future that have taught me and continue to teach me how to do it differently,” she shared. She also expressed her gratitude to director Chloé Zhao, stating, “Chloé Zhao, you are making history tonight as a storyteller. Thank you for your uncompromising artistry.”

Buckley’s BAFTA win for Hamnet adds to the film’s growing accolades. The film also won the BAFTA for Outstanding British Film at the 2026 awards ceremony .
