Jessie Buckley’s ‘Method Dressing’ on The Bride! Press Tour

Jessie Buckley is captivating the fashion world with a strategic and thematic approach to her red carpet looks during the press run for her latest film, The Bride!. Stylist Danielle Goldberg is orchestrating a “method dressing” strategy, aligning Buckley’s outfits with the dark and intense energy of her character – the Bride of Frankenstein in a 1930s Chicago setting.

From Hamnet to Horror: A Style Shift

This approach contrasts sharply with the softer, more polished aesthetic Buckley embraced while promoting her previous film, Hamnet. The “method dressing” technique, popularized by Margot Robbie during the Barbie press tour and Zendaya’s consistent red carpet presence, involves using fashion to embody the essence of a role.

Recent Red Carpet Moments

Buckley recently showcased this strategy at the New York City premiere of The Bride!, held at The Rose Theatre, Jazz at Lincoln Centre. She wore a striking Chanel gown designed by Matthieu Blazy. The ensemble featured a black turtleneck top paired with a voluminous white skirt adorned with a teal and black cheetah print and finished with white feathers.

Accessories included simple black strappy heels, stud earrings with a teal-colored stone, and dark black sunglasses. Her beauty look was minimal, with a slicked-back blonde bob and a bold cat-eye liner.

Previous Appearances and Awards Season Success

Prior to the premiere, Buckley attended the 2026 Actor Awards, where she wore a custom black column gown by Balenciaga, featuring an asymmetrical white draped cape. Throughout the awards season, while nominated for her work in Chloé Zhao’s Hamnet, Buckley and Goldberg favored classic silhouettes and rich colors, including a Dior ensemble at the Critics Choice Awards, a baby-blue Dior gown for the Golden Globes, and a sapphire-blue Chanel dress for the BAFTAs. Buckley won Best Actress at the Golden Globes and BAFTAs.

Maison Margiela Couture and Gothic Glamour

At the London premiere of The Bride! on February 26, Buckley donned a sheer, half-gothic, half-naked couture gown from Maison Margiela’s Spring 2024 Couture collection. The dress, featuring a vertical stitch down the bodice and a flowing train, was so sheer it revealed a nude teddy worn in lieu of a traditional bra, cinched at the waist with an underbust corset.

Danielle Goldberg also styled Buckley for her Hamnet looks.
