Jisoo’s ‘Boyfriend on Demand’ Arrives on Netflix with Exclusive First Looks
Just ahead of the premiere of Boyfriend on Demand on Netflix, exclusive photos offer a glimpse into Blackpink’s Jisoo’s role as Seo Mi-rae, a young woman exploring romance through a virtual dating service.
The stills reveal a range of emotions from Jisoo’s character. One image shows Seo Mi-rae with tears streaming down her face, while another depicts a hopeful and confident Mi-rae in a pink letterman jacket, seemingly in a classroom setting.
Additional photos feature Jisoo alongside her co-star, Seo In-guk, who plays Park Kyeong-Nam. One scene portrays a tense encounter between the two characters outdoors at night, while another shows them in an elevator, with Mi-rae looking away as Kyeong-Nam intently observes her.
Boyfriend on Demand is set to launch on Netflix on March 6, following the release of the trailer. The series centers around Seo Mi-rae, a webtoon producer who turns to a virtual dating service to escape the pressures of perform and explore the possibility of romance. Refinery29 describes the show as a story where she “sparks feelings — and maybe a real shot at romance.”
This isn’t Jisoo’s first foray into acting, with previous roles in Newtopia, Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy, and Snowdrop. She is currently promoting with her Blackpink bandmates Rosé, Lisa, and Jennie, following the release of their mini-album DEADLINE in late February, marking the group’s first new music in four years. The Hollywood Reporter notes the album’s release ahead of the Netflix series.
Boyfriend on Demand was originally scheduled to air on the South Korean network MBC but will now be released exclusively on Netflix. What’s on Netflix reports that filming recently concluded in the Philippines.
