San Francisco Front Office Ramps Up Trade Talks Ahead Of Deadline
San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch confirmed on Friday morning during an interview on KNBR’s Morning Show that trade discussions around the league are heating up ahead of the upcoming NFL trade deadline on Tuesday, Nov. 10, at 1 p.m. While Lynch did not reveal whether the front office will execute a major roster addition, he acknowledged that dialogue with other teams has intensified.

The 49ers have built a reputation for aggressive roster maneuvering under Lynch’s leadership. In the first nine years with Lynch as general manager, the franchise has acquired nine players via trades leading up to the NFL trading deadline while trading away three others. Notable past mid-season acquisitions include quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders, running back Christian McCaffrey, and defensive end Chase Young. A year ago, the team added defensive lineman Keion White from New England, who has since developed into a key piece of the team’s defense.
Lynch Addresses Persistent Rumors Regarding Los Angeles Chargers Pass Rusher Khalil Mack
Persistent speculation has linked San Francisco to high-profile players across the league, driven in part by injuries at several key positions, including wide receiver and along the defensive line. One name frequently mentioned in trade rumors is Los Angeles Chargers edge Khalil Mack. Mack has recorded three sacks this season for the Chargers, who have fallen out of contention early in the season with no wins in their first five games.

Speculation about Mack has even penetrated the team’s own locker room. Lynch admitted on KNBR that the widespread rumors prompted inquiries internally, including a direct question from tight end George Kittle. “I had a lot of people ask me that,” Lynch said on the broadcast. “We seem to be connected to everybody. I had a player ask me.” When pressed on who initiated the question, Lynch laughed and named Kittle, noting, “Kittle asks about everything, which I love.”
Weighing Communication Against Roster Needs As Undefeated NFC West Leaders Evaluate Options
Despite ongoing roster challenges, the 49ers remain undefeated and sit atop the NFC West standings. Lynch emphasized that making and receiving calls is simply a standard part of front-office operations at this point in the NFL calendar. “Just because the flow of the trade deadline is approaching, yes,” Lynch said. “That’s our job to do that, to talk with our counterparts around the league. We receive calls, we make calls, just to see where the market is at.” Whether those conversations will materialize into a concrete transaction before the Nov. 10 cutoff remains uncertain.
