Pickles launched the group in Rotherham in 1989. He fused cutting-edge synthesisers and sampling technology to bridge contemporary pop music with golden-era classics from the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s. Colleagues remembered him as a trailblazer whose distinct vision reshaped the commercial soundscape.

According to records cited by The Independent, Jive Bunny And The Mastermixers captured three UK number-one singles: “Swing The Mood,” “That’s What I Like,” and “Let’s Party.”
The momentum extended far beyond a trio of chart-toppers. The group also had a UK top 10 album in Jive Bunny The Album and scored five UK top 10 hits including their number ones. The project’s unforgettable visual identity relied on a cartoon rabbit stamped across album covers and music videos, brought to life by costumed actors during promotional appearances.

Sustaining the Brand into a New Era
Decades after the initial peak of the craze, the Mastermix company has continued to sustain the brand. In December 2024, Mastermix issued a brand-new Jive Bunny production titled “3, 6, 9.”
The company stated that the release was designed to celebrate the origins of the Jive Bunny concept while incorporating a modern musical twist.
