Jackass to End with Upcoming Fifth Film, Johnny Knoxville Confirms
After nearly 26 years of outrageous stunts and pranks, the Jackass franchise is set to conclude with its fifth film, as confirmed by star Johnny Knoxville. The announcement brings an end to a series that began on MTV in 2000 and evolved into a successful film franchise.
The End of an Era
Knoxville revealed to Rolling Stone that the upcoming movie, slated for release on June 26, 2026, will be the last installment in the Jackass series. “This is the natural place to end,” Knoxville stated, adding with characteristic humor, “So it’s going to be absolutely awful.”
From MTV to the Big Screen
Jackass first gained popularity as a television show on MTV in 2000, showcasing Knoxville and his fellow cast members – including Steve-O, Dave England, Wee Man, Chris Pontius, and Preston Lacy – performing dangerous and often shocking stunts. The show’s success led to four feature films, beginning in 2002, and a spin-off movie, Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa, as well as various compilation releases.
Jackass Forever and the Road to Film Five
The franchise experienced a resurgence with Jackass Forever, released in 2022 after a more than 10-year hiatus. Knoxville surprised fans in January 2026 with the announcement of a fifth film via social media, stating, “We wanted to let you know that this summer Jackass is back!!”

Even as details remain scarce, Jackass 5 is expected to incorporate both new footage and previously unseen material from the franchise’s history. Reports suggest that Bam Margera may appear in the film, with old footage featuring him potentially included TMZ reported that producers reached out to Margera’s team regarding the new installment. The film will also feature returning favorites like Steve-O, alongside newer cast members such as Eric Manaka, Zach Holmes, Rachel Wolfson, and Sean “Poopies” McInerney.
Knoxville’s Future and Health Concerns
The decision to end the franchise comes after Knoxville announced his intention to retire from performing “big stunts” following a brain hemorrhage sustained while filming Jackass Forever. He was injured after being kicked by a bull during a stunt for the film USA Today reported. Knoxville has also stated he needs to avoid further head injuries.
