Foreign Youth Arrested in Connection with Johor Bahru Hotel Murder

A 19-year-ancient foreign national has been arrested in connection with the death of a woman found with 14 stab wounds in a hotel room in Taman Maju Jaya, Johor Bahru, Malaysia. The arrest occurred within 24 hours of the discovery of the body, according to Johor police officials.

Details of the Incident and Arrest

Johor deputy police chief, Deputy Commissioner Hoo Chuan Huat, announced the arrest on Thursday, March 12, 2026. The suspect was apprehended at a condominium in Johor Bahru at approximately 8:00 PM on Wednesday, March 11, 2026.

Evidence Seized

During the arrest, police seized several items believed to be connected to the murder, including a brown t-shirt, a pair of long blue jeans, a black hat, a pair of black rubber shoes, a closed-circuit television (CCTV) surveillance hard drive and two mobile phones. These items are currently being analyzed as part of the ongoing investigation.

Suspect’s Background and Remand

Authorities have confirmed that the suspect has no prior criminal record and tested negative in a drug screening. He has been remanded for seven days, until March 18, pending further investigation. The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries a potential sentence of death or imprisonment of 30 to 40 years, plus a minimum of 12 strokes of the cane upon conviction.

Victim and Initial Findings

The victim, believed to be a 37-year-old foreign national, was found dead with 11 stab wounds to her chest, as well as additional injuries to her neck, right index finger, and right arm. Initial reports suggest the time of death was between 1:30 AM and 4:30 AM on Tuesday, March 11, 2026.
