Joko Widodo to Celebrate Eid al-Fitr in Jakarta
Jakarta – Former Indonesian President Joko Widodo, widely known as Jokowi, and his wife Iriana will observe Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri in Jakarta. Jokowi plans to perform the Eid prayer at Al-Bina Mosque, situated within the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) sporting complex in Central Jakarta.
“Bapak-Ibu (Jokowi and Iriana) will perform the prayer at GBK on Saturday, March 21,” stated Police Commissioner Syarif Muhammad Fitriansyah, Jokowi’s aide, in a text message on Friday, March 20, 2026, as reported by Tempo.
Whether Jokowi will participate in a halal bihalal gathering with current President Prabowo Subianto remains unconfirmed, according to Syarif. The former president and Iriana arrived in Jakarta on Thursday, March 19, 2026, and are scheduled to remain in the capital until March 24, 2026.
Jokowi shared on his Instagram account that he intends to spend the Eid holiday with family and grandchildren. “To gather with family, to relieve the longing, especially with grandchildren who always bring joy and new stories,” he posted.
Last year, in 2025, Jokowi celebrated Eid in Solo, performing the Eid prayer at a mosque near his home in the Sumber sub-district. Notable visitors to his home during that time included Didit Hediprasetyo Djojohadikusumo, the son of President Prabowo Subianto, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, and Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan.
