Jonathan Majors Lands Comeback Role with The Daily Wire
Jonathan Majors is set to return to the screen in an action film produced by The Daily Wire and Bonfire Legend, marking his first movie role in four years. The project comes after Majors faced legal challenges in 2023.
Details of the Project
Cameras are currently rolling in South Carolina on the untitled action movie. Kyle Rankin, known for directing “Run Hide Fight,” wrote the screenplay and is directing the film. The story is inspired by 1980s and 1990s action films like “Red Dawn” and “Toy Soldiers,” focusing on a group uniting against invading forces [Deadline].
Majors’ Career Trajectory
Majors’ career gained momentum with roles in films such as “Creed III,” “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,” and “Magazine Dreams,” as well as the HBO series “Lovecraft Country.” However, his career was significantly impacted following a conviction in 2023 related to an assault on a former girlfriend [Deadline]. He was subsequently dropped from several projects, including his role as Kang in the Marvel Cinematic Universe [World of Reel].
The Daily Wire’s Role in Comebacks
The Daily Wire and Bonfire Legend have demonstrated a willingness to offer opportunities to actors facing career setbacks. They previously collaborated on “Terror on the Prairie,” starring Gina Carano, who was also involved in a public controversy leading to her departure from “The Mandalorian” [Deadline]. The company has also given roles to Armie Hammer and Vincent Gallo [World of Reel].
Other Projects and Legal Proceedings
In addition to this project, Majors is attached to star in the supernatural revenge thriller “Merciless” from Martin Villeneuve, announced in summer 2024 [Deadline]. He avoided jail time and has recently married fellow actor Meagan Good.
