A Midnight Soundtrack for the Restless
Salt Lake City singer-songwriter Josaleigh Pollett will release her latest album, If I Let It Quiet, on July 24. The project, arriving via labels Audio Antihero and Lavender Vinyl, is anchored by the recently released single "Bed Of Quiet." Pollett describes the track as an "over-thinker’s anthem," a song built to capture the specific, jagged restlessness of middle-of-the-night rumination.

To construct the song’s soundscape, Pollett reached back into the archives. She incorporated instrumental recordings provided by musician Chris Walla, pulling from raw audio dating back to the early 2010s. These previously unused textures form an atmospheric base for the track, grounding Pollett’s lyrical exploration of sleeplessness and indecision.
Suspended in Vocal Limbo
The track features a singular, haunting contribution from Jordan Watko. Pollett noted that the post-chorus vocal line, "a little doubt-," marks the only appearance of Watko’s vocals on the entire record. The production choice was deliberate, designed to mirror the sensation of being "suspended above your body" during the small hours of the morning—a state defined by repetitive, unresolved thoughts.
Navigating the Mountain of Perhaps
Pollett has carved a niche for herself with an intimate, indie-leaning aesthetic. Listeners often draw parallels between her work and the songwriting of artists like Indigo De Souza and Samia, noting a knack for balancing raw, personal vulnerability with infectious melodies. If I Let It Quiet continues this trajectory, doubling down on detailed, introspective lyricism. As a central piece of the record’s narrative, "Bed Of Quiet" addresses the persistent struggle to find clarity amidst a "mountain of perhaps."
