JC St. Gallen_Gossau Judokas Achieve Success at Recent Tournament
Young judokas from JC St. Gallen_Gossau demonstrated exceptional skill and determination at a recent tournament, securing multiple podium finishes across various age categories. The event, held on Sunday, saw athletes competing in the U11, U13, U18, and U21 divisions.
Ivan Matej Gjorgiev marked a triumphant return after a lengthy injury break, claiming victory in the U21 up to 60 kg category. Gjorgiev showcased his prowess with four consecutive ippon victories leading to the final, ultimately winning a closely contested match against Czech competitor Musiev. His training partner, Spencer Reichardt, also competed in the U21 division, reaching the semi-finals of the up to 66 kg category after three wins before securing a bronze medal victory, adding to his previous success in Morges.
Competition in the U18 category saw Gian Luca Lona initially performing well with two wins, but unfortunately, an injury sustained during his third fight ended his pursuit of a medal.
The younger athletes also shone brightly, with Olivia Tangl winning gold in the U13 up to 44 kg category after four extraordinary victories. Moritz Meyer added another gold medal to the club’s tally,winning the U11 category with three wins. Further medal success came from joel Schweizer, Damien Engler, Oleksander Hrynevskyi, Jomaa al Ali, Louisa Beck, and Jael Mayer.
These results highlight the notable potential within JC St. Gallen_Gossau and contribute valuable points towards qualifying for the Swiss individual championships.
