According to Netflix’s What We Watched engagement report, the anime series Jujutsu Kaisen outperformed the Demon Slayer franchise in total streaming viewership during the first half of 2026. The data shows that Jujutsu Kaisen pulled in a combined total of 31.6 million views and 202.1 million viewing hours across its three seasons and two movies on the platform, while Demon Slayer generated 17.5 million views and 105.4 million viewing hours.
Streaming Metrics Contrast Franchise Popularity
Despite the Demon Slayer franchise achieving massive global box office success with its theatrical releases, that momentum did not translate into equivalent online viewership on Netflix during the first six months of 2026. According to Netflix engagement data, Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3—which adapted the first half of the Culling Game arc—emerged as the most-viewed anime season on the platform with 9.4 million views.

That figure stands at more than double the viewership of Demon Slayer‘s highest-ranking entry for the period, the Hashira Training Arc, which recorded 4.1 million views. Furthermore, Jujutsu Kaisen secured three spots in the platform’s top five most-viewed anime series, whereas Demon Slayer failed to break into the top 10.

Platform Momentum and Release Schedules
The surge in viewership for Jujutsu Kaisen was largely driven by the January 2026 premiere of its third season, which topped streaming charts during its broadcast run. According to platform engagement comparisons, this new release fueled a 198.1 percent increase in total franchise views on Netflix compared to the second half of 2025, when the series recorded 10.6 million views.

Conversely, Demon Slayer experienced a more than 68 percent decline in total franchise views compared to the second half of 2025. That earlier period benefited heavily from the July 2025 release of the Infinity Castle movie and subsequent high engagement with the Hashira Training Arc, which drew 14.4 million views at the time. Industry watchers note that both franchises have additional content on the horizon, with Demon Slayer preparing for regional streaming rollouts of the Infinity Castle film in late July 2026 and Jujutsu Kaisen slated for a fourth season.
