Julia Franzén Fails to Complete Vasaloppet in “Kampen mot Repen” Challenge
Influencer Julia Franzén’s attempt to conquer the legendary Vasaloppet ski race as part of SVT’s “Kampen mot repen” (The Fight Against the Rope) ended prematurely, as she was unable to meet the cut-off time at the Mångsbodarna checkpoint. Franzén partnered with Vasalopp expert Mattias Svahn for the challenge, which was broadcast live.
Early Struggles and a Temporary Reprieve
Franzén faced difficulties from the outset, nearly being disqualified at the first control point in Smågan due to a tight schedule. The organizers briefly adjusted the rope time at Smågan, allowing her to continue, but this reprieve proved temporary.
Disappointment at Mångsbodarna
Despite her efforts, Franzén could not reach Mångsbodarna within the allotted time. “It feels boring, but I’ve been fighting,” Franzén stated in the broadcast before being left on the track without a microphone.
Svahn Continues Alone
Mattias Svahn and the camera crew were forced to continue the race without Franzén to have any chance of making the remaining checkpoints. “It is sad to abandon Julia, but if we are to have a chance on the rope in Mångsbodarna, I have to step up considerably now,” Svahn explained.
