Edon Zhegrova’s Juventus Struggles and Potential Exit

Turin – Juventus is reportedly considering selling winger Edon Zhegrova after a disappointing first season with the club. The Kosovar international, who arrived with high expectations, has failed to make a significant impact, leading to speculation about his future in Italy.

Disappointing Performance in Turin

Zhegrova has made 20 appearances for Juventus since joining from Lille, but only one of those was as a starter – a Champions League match against Paphos. He is yet to score or provide an assist for the Bianconeri, totaling just 445 minutes of playing time, averaging 22 minutes per game.

Despite displaying good technique, Zhegrova’s performances have been criticized for a lack of tactical awareness, defensive contribution, and overall effectiveness. Two specific incidents highlighted his struggles: a costly loss of possession in the team’s own third during a 2-1 defeat to Roma, which led to a goal for the opposition, and a missed scoring opportunity in a 3-2 win against Galatasaray when Juventus led 3-0.

Juventus Weighing Options

Both Juventus management and the coaching staff have reportedly concluded that Zhegrova is not a key player for the future. The club is open to offers, but aims to avoid a financial loss on the player.

To recoup their investment, Juventus would necessitate to sell Zhegrova for at least £11.4 million. This could prove challenging given his limited playing time and lack of goal contributions.

Previous Praise and Initial Expectations

Prior to his arrival at Juventus, Zhegrova was highly regarded. In the 2024-2025 season with Lille, he scored eight goals and provided two assists in all competitions. Former teammate Jonathan David, who too joined Juventus this summer, previously described Zhegrova as an “incredible player” with a “fantastic left foot and great dribbling skills,” predicting he would help the team score goals Bein Sports.

David also expressed a strong bond with Zhegrova, stating their connection would be an advantage at Juventus Football Italia.

Potential Suitors and Future Prospects

While specific clubs interested in Zhegrova have not been publicly named, Juventus will likely explore options in leagues where his skillset might be better suited. The club will be hoping to find a buyer willing to meet their valuation and provide Zhegrova with a platform to rediscover his form.
