JYSK Expands in Belgium with Six New Store Openings
Scandinavian home furnishings retailer JYSK significantly expanded its presence in Belgium on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, with the opening of six new stores across the country. This marks the largest single-day expansion for JYSK in Belgium to date, bringing the total number of stores to 76.
Strategic Expansion and Market Competition
The new JYSK stores are located in Borsbeek, Brugge, Grivegnée, Huy, Kuurne, and Zottegem. With the exception of the Borsbeek location, the new stores occupy spaces previously held by Leen Bakker and have been fully renovated to align with JYSK’s latest store concept. This expansion intensifies competition within the Belgian home furnishings market, particularly with established players like IKEA.

Growth and Future Plans
JYSK’s expansion in Belgium is part of a broader growth strategy. Two additional stores are planned to open in April in Dendermonde and Marche-en-Famenne, followed by another in Sint-Truiden in June. JYSK intends to open new stores on all seven former Shopping Cora sites in Belgium, with the first openings anticipated in early summer. The retailer aims to reach at least 125 stores in Belgium in the long term.
