Constant’s cADPR Research Published in International Journal

Constant, the developer of the Refill hair loss and scalp care brand, announced the publication of research on its proprietary ingredient, cyclic ADP-ribose (cADPR), in Applied Sciences, an international journal published by MDPI in Switzerland. MDPI is a well-respected open-access publisher.

The study investigated the effects of cADPR on calcium homeostasis and hair growth signaling within human hair follicle dermal papilla cells. The findings provide a scientific basis for cADPR’s potential to alleviate hair loss.

Cell-Level Control and Key Findings

The research highlights the importance of “cell level control” in hair loss treatment. Results indicated that cADPR effectively maintained stable intracellular calcium levels for over six hours, even at a low concentration of 0.05ppm. This stability led to:

• A 2.3-fold increase in the transcriptional activity of ‘Wnt/β-catenin’, a crucial pathway for hair growth.
• A 2.5-fold increase in the expression of the key gene ‘LEF-1’.
• A reduction in ‘TGF-β2’ – a factor inducing hair follicle degeneration – to 0.3 times its original level, simultaneously promoting hair growth and suppressing hair loss.

Notably, the study also demonstrated a high safety profile for cADPR, with a cell survival rate exceeding 98% across all tested concentrations. This combination of efficacy and safety is considered a significant achievement within the industry.

Origins of cADPR Technology

The cADPR technology originated from 30 years of hair loss research led by Dr. Yang Mi-kyung, a graduate of Seoul National University College of Medicine. Dr. Yang combined clinical trials with fundamental research, focusing on identifying substances that could both stimulate hair growth signals and reduce hair loss factors. The resulting technology aims to induce cells to create their own environment conducive to hair growth, rather than simply delivering external ingredients.

Global Expansion and Patent Protection
