KakaoPay Insurance launched “Our Child Health Alert,” a new service that analyzes regional and age-specific disease and environmental risks to notify parents via KakaoTalk, according to an announcement on September 8, 2026.
The newly introduced feature utilizes public data provided by the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency, the Korea Meteorological Administration, and the Ministry of Environment. By evaluating a user’s designated region and their child’s age, the system determines the current health risk level. When risks exceed a predetermined threshold, the platform dispatches automated KakaoTalk alert messages containing relevant safety guidelines.
Targeted Diseases and Environmental Risk Factors
According to KakaoPay Insurance, the monitoring system tracks common childhood and seasonal illnesses, specifically hand, foot, and mouth disease, the common cold, influenza, enteritis, and pneumonia. The service evaluates regional patient trends over the preceding 12 months, identifying a risk signal whenever patient volumes experience a sharp upward spike compared to previous weeks or months.
Environmental tracking incorporates meteorological metrics such as the atmospheric stagnation index, ultraviolet radiation levels, temperature, daily temperature ranges, and humidity, alongside environmental data covering fine dust, ultra-fine dust, and ozone concentrations.
Age-Specific Guidance and Service Access
The platform separates safety protocols into two distinct age brackets: children aged 0 to 5 and those aged 6 to 15. For instance, if influenza risks rise, the system prompts parents to verify vaccination status, whereas elevated ultra-fine dust levels trigger advisories to restrict outdoor activities.
Users can access the tool through the KakaoPay application or the KakaoPay home tab inside KakaoTalk by registering their residential region and their child’s birth year. Notifications are sent exclusively when environmental or disease risks climb, rather than on a daily schedule.
A representative for KakaoPay Insurance stated that insurance extends beyond reacting to unexpected accidents, noting that helping individuals anticipate and avoid risks altogether forms a vital part of preparedness. The company plans to continue rolling out data-driven services that identify daily hazards proactively.
