Katie Price Testifies at Kieran Hayler Trial as Terminally Ill Mother Faces Final Days

Former glamour model Katie Price told Lewes Crown Court that her terminally ill mother, Amy Price, has just days to live while taking the stand at the ongoing trial of her ex-husband, Kieran Hayler.

Amy Price was diagnosed in 2017 with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF), a rare condition that causes irreversible scarring of the lung air sacs and makes breathing difficult, according to the NHS reported by The Mirror. Doctors warned at the time of diagnosis that she had less than five years to live. She previously underwent a lifesaving lung transplant in 2023 after drifting into a coma and nearing death. Katie Price stated in court that she has been unable to visit her mother recently due to having a cold, adding, My mum’s dying at the moment and I haven’t been able to see her [because] I’ve got a cold… She’s got days. I did promise my mum I’d see her tomorrow.

Defense Cross-Examines Evidence and Media Appearances

The trial centers on Kieran Hayler, 39, who denies three counts of rape and one count of sexual assault against a schoolgirl between June and October 2016 in West Sussex. The complainant is not a member of either family and was 14 at the time of a 2017 message exchange where Price messaged the girl promising protection and vowing to make her a “little star” while asking about Hayler. Price testified behind a screen that the remarks were just a figure of speech with no agenda or nothing behind it.

Hayler’s defense lawyer, Arlette Piercy, questioned Price regarding her recent Sky documentary series, Katie Price: Nothing to Hide, and her on-screen comments about being a Gemini and loving revenge. Price defended the remarks, telling the court, It’s TV, it’s what I say. It’s what drives me in my work. When Ms. Piercy accused the model of harboring a long-standing vendetta and acting out of anger toward her ex-husband, Price maintained, That is not true. I don’t have any venom against Kieran, it was amicable when we split.

Background to Confrontations and Allegations

Price testified that she confronted Hayler while they were still married, asking him if he had engaged in improper conduct with the teenage girl, to which he consistently responded with denials. The complainant, now 23, first reported her allegations to the NSPCC in 2021, prompting a police referral in December 2021 and Hayler’s subsequent police questioning the following month. Hayler and Price married in the Bahamas in 2013 following her previous marriages to Peter Andre and Alex Reid, before separating in 2018 and formally divorcing in 2021.

The Mirror noted that Price balances her court appearances and media work alongside caring for her eldest son, Harvey, who lives with Prader-Willi syndrome, autism, and septo-optic dysplasia. The trial at Lewes Crown Court continues.
