KATSEYE’s Manon Bannerman Announces Temporary Hiatus to Focus on Wellbeing
KATSEYE singer Manon Bannerman will be taking a “temporary hiatus” from the group to prioritize her “health and wellbeing,” the band’s management announced on Friday, February 20, 2026. The six-member girl group, nominated for best new artist and best pop group performance at the 2026 Grammy Awards for their song Gabriela, was formed in 2023 on the reality competition show The Debut: Dream Academy.
The announcement was shared on Katseye’s WeVerse fandom page. A statement from HYBE and Geffen Records read: “After open and thoughtful conversations together, we are sharing that Manon will be taking a temporary hiatus from group activities to focus on her health, and wellbeing. We fully support this decision. Katseye remains committed to showing up for one another and for the fans who mean everything to us. The group will continue scheduled activities during this time, and we look forward to being together again when the time is right. Thank you to our Eyekons (Katseye fandom) for your continued love, patience, and understanding.”
The Rise of KATSEYE
KATSEYE was formed through the 2023 audition program The Debut: Dream Academy, a collaboration between HYBE and Geffen Records, which followed 20 aspiring pop stars over 12 weeks. The group consists of Daniela Avanzini, Lara Raj, Manon Bannerman, Megan Skiendiel, Sophia Laforteza, and Yoonchae Jeung, representing the Philippines, South Korea, Switzerland, and the United States.
Since their formation, KATSEYE has experienced a rapid rise to fame. They released their debut EP, SIS (Soft Is Strong), followed by the 2025 EP, Beautiful Chaos. The group gained viral attention with their 2025 Better In Denim Gap ad, praised for its choreography and dancing. They are also known for their songs “Internet Girl” and “Gabriela.”
Group to Continue Activities During Hiatus
Despite Bannerman’s temporary departure, KATSEYE will continue with their scheduled activities. The group’s management has affirmed their commitment to both their fans and to supporting Bannerman during her time away.
