Keith Andrews Signs Long-Term Deal to Remain at Brentford

Brentford Football Club has secured the future of manager Keith Andrews, announcing a new long-term contract that will keep him at the Gtech Community Stadium until 2032. The deal comes after a remarkably successful first season in charge for the former set-piece coach, who stepped up to replace Thomas Frank in June of last year.

From Set-Piece Coach to Premier League Manager

Andrews initially joined Brentford as a set-piece coach under Thomas Frank, also holding coaching positions at Sheffield United and MK Dons. When Frank departed for Tottenham, Andrews was appointed as head coach on a three-year deal. He has guided the Bees to seventh place in the Premier League, exceeding expectations after the departures of key players like Bryan Mbeumo, Yoane Wissa, and Christian Norgaard.

Impressive First Season at the Helm

Brentford’s impressive form under Andrews has seen them reach the fifth round of the FA Cup, where they will face West Ham, and the Carabao Cup quarter-finals, losing to Manchester City. The club’s director of football, Phil Giles, praised Andrews’ impact, stating he has been a “really good fit” and has delivered “outstanding” results.

Andrews’ Humble Approach

Andrews himself acknowledged the challenge of following Frank’s successful seven-year tenure, expressing a desire to prove himself capable of leading the club. He stated he felt he needed to “earn my stripes” and approach the opportunity with humility and hard work.

“Naturally, I feel there would have been a slight concern – if I were living in Dublin looking at Thomas Frank leaving and the set-piece coach taking over, I probably would have been a little bit worried too! With the new contract secured, Keith Andrews will continue to lead Brentford as they push for European qualification. The Bees are currently seventh in the Premier League and will return to action on Saturday, traveling to Turf Moor to face Burnley.
