WWE SmackDown Results – March 1, 2024
Opening Segment:
CM Punk and Cody Rhodes confronted Roman Reigns. Reigns said he doesn’t like either of them, but they can agree that he hates Paul Heyman and he hates The Vision.”That’s my word, that’s my promise,” he said. “That I hate them more than I hate you.” he closed by telling them that the title would look so much better on his shoulder. He then dropped the mic and walked away.
Punk asked if he was talking to him or Cody. Reigns laughed and said that’s for them to figure out. He continued walking. Punk told Cody, “He’s talking to you.”
Backstage Segment:
Heyman was with The Vision and Drew McIntyre. Heyman told Drew that the only reason he’s there is because he picked him for the Advantage match and he can screw that up if he looks at the wrong person the wrong way tonight. He said the advantage match is now a tag match. Logan Paul interjected that the partner is Brock Lesnar. Heyman said Lesnar is in a terrible mood over what happened with Roman last week. He said he shouldn’t have said Lesnar’s name.Logan said, “Brock’s name cannot come out of my mouth.” Heyman said, “Are you kidding me?!” Logan said he’s just messing with him. Heyman then revealed that he picked Logan to team with Drew later. Logan said, “Wise choice.”
In-Ring Action:
Gunther made his ring entrance.
(1) GUNTHER vs.CARMELO HAYES – Last Time Is Now Tournament Quarterfinal
The bell rang 31 minutes into the hour. Hayes went on an aggressive attack at the start. When Gunther took over, he turned his back and stood on the second rope to gloat. Hayes came up behind Gunther and powerbombed him to the mat. He followed with a running knee to the face and a springboard DDT for a two count. they cut to an early break at 2:00.
Back from the break,Gunther was in control. Hayes scored a two count with a small package. Hayes applied a sleeper, but Gunther escaped and applied his own.Hayes leveraged Gunther’s shoulders down. Gunther released. Hayes applied a sleeper again. Gunther suplexed Hayes to break it. Both were down and slow to get up at 6:00. Gunther told the camera at ringside that Hayes didn’t beat anyone of consequence.Barrett said he beat Bronson. Tessitore noted Cody gave Hayes “a major assist.” They cut to another break at 9:00.
Back from the break, Barrett said Gunther seemed frustrated and perhaps fatigued. Hayes landed a First 48 out of nowhere. Gunther tossed him over the top rope. Hayes landed on the ring apron and then kicked a charging Gunther. Gunther stood and chopped him off the top rope.
Hayes landed a running flip dive over the top rope onto Gunther at ringside. Gunther set up a powerbomb at ringside, but Hayes backdropped him into the time keepers area.Hayes leaped off the barricade and DDT’d Gunther. Hayes rolled into the ring and the ref got to nine. Gunther barely beat the count. Hayes stayed on the attack,but Gunther ducked hayes and then landed a hard lariat and a powerbomb into jackknife.
SmackDown Results – November 17, 2023
Rey Mysterio def. Finn Balor in 11:00
The match went to a break at 3:00 after McDonagh slammed Rey onto the announce table at ringside. [c]
back live, McDonagh had rey grounded.Rey made a comeback and went for a 619, but McDonagh moved and landed a leaping Spanish Fly. Rey landed a sunset bomb for a near fall seconds later at 10:00. Rey went for a 619, but Balor tripped Rey. Rey shoved balor’s head from behind. Balor leaped onto the ring apron. McDonagh went to tackle Rey, but he hit Balor instead. Rey then landed a 619 for the win.
-Balor tried to attack Rey afterward, but Rey avoided him.Barrett compared the scene to a “Benny hill Show” skit.
-A clip aired of Cody Rhodes interviewing Timothy Chalamet.
-Backstage,Adam Pearce was chatting with Raquel Rodrigues who had some gripes. Pearce said he agreed with her and assured her that she would be in the mix for a title match after Survivor Series. She left satisfied and in walked The New Day and Grayson Waller. Kofi Kingston was complaining. Pearce yelled for him to shut up.He said he wanted to tell them that Dragon Lee & A.J. Styles want to defend against them next week. New Day celebrated. Waller put a blond wig on Pearce head. Pearce yelled and said he needed a drink.
-They showed Brock Lesnar arriving at the arena.
-Becky Lynch made her entrance.[c]
-A clip aired of Rhea ripley introducing A.J. Lee as the fifth member of their team last week.
-Kairi Sane and Asuka made their entrance, joining Becky, Nia Jax, and Lash Legend. Becky said she could hear the fans are all unhappy with the “injustice that happened to me last Monday on Monday night Raw.” She said she had the best lawyers working on it. She said she’s been advised not to talk about it. She said she follows the rules and how heads are going to roll. She said she’ll get her title back and the company will be better for it. She said it’s a travesty, but she can’t do anything about it now. She said the company will also be better when she gets rid of A.J. Lee once and for all.
She said Lee made a mistake coming back to WWE and interfering in her match and costing her a title, but her biggest mistake will be getting in a cage with her. She said she has assembled the greatest team in WarGames history. Becky told Asuka she beat her nine out of ten times, but she made her work for those wins. Becky told Kairi she saved her life and she owes her a great deal. She said Iyo Sky was a fool to cross them. She turned to Jax and Legend. She said Jax isn’t as powerful as her. Jax shot her a look. She said when Jax hurt her face, she didn’t have to wear a mask like “Rotten Rhea Ripley.” She said she’s going to make Lash a star like she did the other three. Ripley’s music interrupted Becky.
The babyface team came out one at a time to their individual themes. They then came to the ring to Lee’s music. Lee told becky that the old A.J. would have torn her “pretty little face off, but lucky for you, therapy works.” she said all of this bravado and tearing people down just to lift…
