Kellogg’s Expands Zero Sugar Granola Line with Dark Chocolate Flavor
Kellogg’s Korea, a subsidiary of the global cereal giant, has launched a new flavor of its “Protein Granola Zero Sugar” line, according to a company statement. The “Protein Granola Zero Sugar Dark Chocolate” variant, introduced to meet growing consumer demand for low-sugar, nutrient-dense breakfast options, features dark chocolate puffed rice and a blend of five whole grains, the company said.
New Flavor Aims to Broaden Consumer Appeal
The product retains the zero-sugar formulation of the original “Protein Granola Zero Sugar” line, which uses alulose and stevia as sweeteners, along with palatinose to stabilize blood sugar levels, according to the company. The dark chocolate flavor was added to cater to preferences for richer taste profiles, while maintaining the product’s high-protein and high-fiber content.
“Consumers are increasingly seeking products that balance reduced sugar intake with essential nutrients like protein and fiber,” said Lee Han-sol, a marketing manager at Kellogg’s Korea. “This new flavor expands our zero-sugar protein granola portfolio to better align with diverse dietary preferences.”
Market Trends Drive Product Development
The launch reflects broader shifts in the Korean food market, where demand for low-sugar and high-nutrient products has risen. The “Protein Granola Zero Sugar Dark Chocolate” includes ingredients such as black soybeans, pumpkin seeds, and a mix of whole grains like barley, oats, and brown rice, the company stated.
Product Launches Nationwide on October 6
The product is now available nationwide at major retailers and online platforms, starting October 6, 2023.
Korean Granola Market Expects Low Sugar Growth
The Korean granola market is expected to grow as more brands introduce low-sugar and high-protein options. Kellogg’s Korea did not comment on future product plans, but the company’s focus on zero-sugar lines suggests further innovation in the category. Consumers will likely watch for additional flavors or formulations targeting specific dietary needs, such as plant-based protein or gluten-free options.
